The problem
Applications arrived as scanned PDFs. Six volunteers spent three weeks transcribing them before scoring could begin.
What we built
A multi-step application form that saves progress, validates documents on upload, and flags incomplete submissions to applicants rather than to reviewers. Scoring happens against a rubric in-browser, with two independent reviewers per application and a third on disagreement.
The result
Transcription disappeared. The 2026 cycle closed its shortlist nine days after the deadline, against six weeks the year before.
